For undergraduate students pursuing careers in:

  • Game design
  • Game development
  • Computer science
  • Animation
  • Interactive media
  • Related video game arts and sciences fields

2. Esports Scholarship

For students who:

  • Play or manage esports at the collegiate level
  • Are pursuing a fouryear academic degree
  • Want to contribute to the growing esports ecosystem
  • Both scholarships aim to support students who bring unique perspectives, creativity, and innovation to the video game industry.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Selected ESA Foundation Scholars receive:
  • $5,000–$10,000 in scholarship funding
  • Industry webinars and mentorship opportunities
  • Access to a national network of ESA Scholars
  • Careerbuilding opportunities within the video game industry

Additionally, a small group of upperlevel students may be chosen to attend the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in March 2027 in San Francisco, with:

  • Paid travel
  • Full GDC registration
  • Exclusive programming and networking sessions

Eligibility Requirements

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Identify as women, nonbinary, gendernonconforming, or economically disadvantaged, OR belong to another underrepresented group in the video game industry
  • Be pursuing a degree leading to a career in video game arts, sciences, or esports
  • Be a fulltime undergraduate student at an accredited fouryear U.S. college or university in Fall 2026
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Applicants may apply to one or both scholarship tracks
