The African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) 2026 is a flagship continental youth programme established by the African Union to recruit, train, and deploy young African professionals across AU Member States.

The programme offers a 12-month volunteer placement where selected participants contribute to development initiatives while gaining professional experience and leadership skills.

AU-YVC promotes youth participation in Africa’s development agenda and supports the realization of Agenda 2063 – “The Africa We Want.”

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizen of an AU Member State (living in Africa or diaspora)
  • Aged 18–35 years
  • Hold a post-secondary qualification (TVET, Bachelor’s, Master’s, etc.)
  • Available for 12 months deployment (2026/2027)
  • Willing to live and work in another AU Member State
  • Proficient in at least one AU language (English, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Kiswahili, or Spanish)
  • At least one year verifiable volunteering experience and one year professional work experience

  • Highest academic qualification certificate
  • Recommendation letter (not older than 2 years)
  • Cover letter addressing motivation, suitability, and skills
